Teaching Apprenticeships

Exceed Academies Trust is an Apprenticeship Training provider and, through Exceed SCITT, is able to offer Teaching Apprenticeships. This is a great route into teaching for employees currently working in the Primary Sector where the school pays into the apprenticeship levy and is available within most local authorities and Academy Trusts. We work in collaboration with Leeds City Council to support Teaching Apprenticeships for maintained schools within Leeds and have Teaching Apprentices from other schools across Bradford, Keighley, Kirklees and Calderdale. Our Teaching Apprentices work alongside our trainees in either the Bradford, Leeds or Keighley and Craven hub.

This is a great route into teaching as the programme is financially viable for the Apprentice as they will be earning a salary from their school at UQ1. The rest of the course training fees are paid from the Apprenticeship Levy making the cost of route minimal to the school and the potential applicant.

See below for further information for both Employers and potential Teaching Apprentices.

Here are the steps required for application to the Teaching Apprenticeship.

Step 1: We need to ensure the employer is eligible for funding through Employer Levy Funds

Step 2: A meeting with the employing school to ensure awareness of the demands for both on and off the job training. At this meeting we will share the ‘Partnership Agreement’. This will ensure all parties are fully aware of the training and assessment requirements.

Step 3: The Applicant will be invited to make an application through GOV.UK. If the application is successful then the applicant will be invited to interview. The invite will include all the information about the interview process.

Step 4: If successful at interview, there will be a meeting with both the employer and Teacher Apprentice where the training requirements will be finalised and an ‘Apprentice Training Plan’ agreed. This will allow for the Teaching Apprentice’s prior experience to be considered.
